I have received private informa-

-tion from the Assistant Judge at Shanghai that in com-

-sequence of illness Sir H. de Sausmarez is not expected to

be back in Shanghai until October, 1909. In these circum-

-stances I have the honour to enquire whether I should

communicate with his locum tenens Judge Vincent

As I the question of the Appellate Court of Hongkong.

anticipate that the Bill referred to in my Despatch of

this date will be ready for submission to the Judge of

Shanghai before the end of December I should be glad to

receive a reply by telegram from Your Lordship.
